Fraxel stimulates the body’s own restorative processes by controlled damage to the skin. Fraxel laser treatment is able to precisely treat thousands of miscroscopic areas of skin, using a pinpoint laser beam to penetrate under the skin’s surface to eliminate old, damaged skin cells. Reaching into the skin’s dermis, Fraxel helps to stimulate the body’s restorative abilities and stimulate collagen production. Older damaged skin is safely removed and the process of controlled skin damage in small areas allows for minimal healing time and highly effective skin rejuvenation. For anyone suffering from age spots, sun damage, acne scars, wrinkles, or melasma, Fraxel is a great way to achieve clearer and more radiant looking skin. Other skin disorders such as pigmentation issues and a need for skin resurfacing are effectively treated with Fraxel. The treatment takes about up to an hour and requires a topical numbing cream before hand. By only damaging specific areas of the skin, spread out over the area being treated, healthy and unaffected skin is left in tact to support the healing process and stimulate the body’s healing capacity.
A treatment typically will take approximately 20-40 minutes. Though treatment plans are flexible, clinical studies suggest that an effective treatment plan is three to four sessions spaced about two to three weeks apart. By design fraxel sessions can target between 5% to 50% of the skin’s surface leaving the remaining 50 to 95% to quickly heal. Results are immediate and progressive, with optimal improvement usually visible in about two to three months and gradual improvement for up to a year. At Renaissance Medical Aesthetics in Orange County, California we specifically engineer your fraxel treatment based on your unique particular needs.
While individual results vary, Fraxel™ offers the benefits of significant skin rejuvenation with minimal downtime. Side effects may involve mild swelling and which normally subsides within two to three days. Redness can last up to five to seven days depending on a patient’s skin type. There is limited, if any, risk of infection or scarring. New epidermal skin develops within 24 hours and requires adequate sun protection after treatment. Sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher is recommended for at least three months after the last laser treatment. Most patients can return to routine activities immediately after treatment and can apply make-up the following day. Each session shows marked improvement in skin quality, resulting in a high level of patient satisfaction. Results are immediate and progressive. After the initial healing is complete, the surface of the skin will immediately feel softer, look brighter and become more even in tone. Results will progressively improve over the next three to six months as the deeper layers of the skin continue to heal.
