Is Thermage CPT Safe?

Yes, it is very safe! The ThermaCool TC system by Thermage CPT is FDA approved.  Hundreds of patients have used this and very few patients had minimal side effects and no patients had lasting of adverse effects.  Before the FDA approved this, the Canadian HPB approved the Thermage CPT treatment as a non-surgical brow-lift and a non-surgical tightening of wrinkles around the eyes and face.

How is Thermage CPT done?

The main structural component of the skin is the protein collagen.  This protein gives the skin strength and elasticity but, as we age, our bodies produce less collagen and the existing collagen stretches, resulting in sagging skin, wrinkles and loss of facial and bodily contours.  The Thermage CPT procedure uses a patented radio frequency to send a controlled and precise zone of heat deep into the dermis (deep layer of skin) and the underlying tissue.  At the same time, the epidermis (top layer of skin) is being protected by continual cooling.  This heat causes the collagen in the skin to tighten which reduces skin sagging and wrinkles, while renewing the natural contours of the skin.  Thermage CPT also causes new collagen production to occur over time.  Thermage CPT is the only non-invasive and non-surgical method available today to effectively tighten loose skin and achieve a non-surgical lift. 

Where is Thermage CPT performed and how long does it take?

Thermage CPT is performed in the Renaissance Medical Aesthetics offices and is an outpatient procedure.  Generally, Thermage CPT treatments take less than one hour, but can vary based on the size of the treatment area.

How does Thermage CPT compare to Titan?

Thermage CPT is FDA approved to treat certain wrinkles and can achieve in a single treatment what can take Titan several treatments.  Thermage CPT uses radio frequency which has been proven to treat wrinkles and has been used much longer than Titan.

What does Thermage CPT feel like – is it painful?

No, it is not painful.  Our patients usually feel a brief “hot” sensation followed by an immediate cooling sensation.  These sensations are caused by the “pulsing” from the radio frequency instrument used to perform Thermage CPT.  One hour before your procedure, an anesthetic cream is applied to the area to minimize these hot and cool sensations.  Your comfort is the primary concern of Renaissance Medical Aesthetics.

How will I look right after the treatment?  Are there side effects?

Some of our patients experience some redness which will go away in a few hours.  The doctors at Renaissance Medical Aesthetics personally oversee this treatment to ensure minimal risks for a positive, more youthful outcome for you!

How soon are results noticeable?  How long do the results last?

Initial results are visible within a few weeks as “tightening, smoothing, improved tone and texture” is seen in the treated areas.  The long-term results occur over time as the healthier collagen tightens and the wrinkles in the skin lessen.  Studies show that the results can last from several months to several years, all depending on the individual aging process.

How many Thermage CPT treatments are required and how much do they cost?

One single treatment can reduce excellent results, but some patients require more than that.  We generally recommend one treatment to each specific area that is being treated.  New studies will show how to change treatment plans and techniques.  The cost of treatment can vary and is determined by the extent of your procedure as it is customized just for you.

When can I return to my normal routine?

Immediately!  This is a non-surgical procedure and usually, there is no downtime.  You may experience some redness, but this usually resolves itself shortly after the treatment.
